The black and yellow flags are still dotted around town, but hopefully by now you’ve all recovered from Folk Week. I think I just about have. Last week was the town at its best, with non-stop music, the sun being fully out, and plenty of fun and madness throughout.

🎭 Adult Theatre: Three Idle Women

Catch one of the final free theatre shows of the summer. This will be an evening of songs, stories, and harmony travelling through time along the UK’s waterways. All performances take place outside with limited seating, but you can always bring a blanket (and a picnic!), and there’s also a cashless bar.

📽 The Films of Billy Wilder at the Palace: Sunset Boulevard

Billy Wilder season at the Palace kicks off this week! You can watch seven of his classic films between Aug-Oct, all including special introductions. If you see 5 films, you can watch the 6th and 7th for free! The first film starts this Fri, with Sunset Boulevard at 7.30pm. The other films in the series are The Seven Year Itch, Witness for the Prosecution, Some Like It Hot, The Apartment, Double Indemnity and Sabrina. There’s also separate dementia-friendly screenings of the films too.

Don’t miss… as mentioned above, it’s been announced the Broadstairs Fireworks have been cancelled this week to keep in line with the government’s restrictions due to the drought conditions. The planned bandstand music with Thomas Abrahams is cancelled as well. Disappointing, especially now we’ve finally had a spot of rain, but it’s got to be safety first. If they get rescheduled we’ll of course let you know.

Summer beach film screenings are back! I absolutely loved watching Finding Nemo on the big screen at Dumpton Gap beach earlier this month. They’ll be back for one more summer screening, on Fri 28 Aug, with Moana at 4pm followed by documentary My Octopus Teacher at 8pm. Follow for more.
You may have also seen that the Captain Digby is currently closed after an electrical fire earlier this month. It still looks shut, but we’ll update as soon as we hear anything about them re-opening.
