Each week I always wonder how full the newsletter will be, then I’m blown away by just how many amazing things are going on. Scroll on and you’ll see this week is even more varied than usual.

😔 Final Few Days Before Clarey’s Chocolates Closes

Some sad news for Broadstairs before we share more of what’s on – this Fri 15 May will be the last day for Clarey’s Chocolates High Street shop. She has made the tough decision to close, so please do pop in, support her and buy the wonderful handmade chocolates while you can before she closes the doors on Friday. We’ll be so very sad to see her leave Broadstairs, but make sure you follow her for updates about what’s next.

These are the first of this month’s magical children’s circles, with more taking place next week. A moment for your child to become self aware of their feelings through movement, meditation and sharing, they’ll also get to connect with other like minded children. One for the dog lovers! There will be 12 fun dog classes you can take part in with your pooch, plus lots happening on the day. Finally, 5 Things To Know…
This Sat 16 May is the annual Paddle Out Protest for Surfers Against Sewage on Viking Bay. A great cause to help get our seas clean, so grab your board and head on down from 1pm. Last year the beach was buzzing and there was even music entertaining the crowds while surfers and paddleboarders took to the water.
Andrea’s beach kettlebells classes are heading back to Stone Bay! After successfully putting a petition out, her Hunky Dory Fitness classes will be back in her usual spot on the far end of Stone Bay. TBC when, so follow her for updates. She’ll still be holding classes at Foreness Waterski & Boat Club too.
The wonderful Sophie at Tide and Seek Broadstairs has announced her May half term beach holiday club this week. Teaming up once more with Kali Wilson illustration, you can drop-off your kids from 10am - 2pm on Tue 26 May to enjoy a day of exploring, crafting, making and playing. Always the best fun. The ever popular St Peter’s Village Tour is beginning its 2026 season from this Thu 14 May with a special inside performance. They will then be taking place outside (weather dependent) around St. Peter’s from Thu 21 May, all the way throughout Summer until mid September. It’s so popular some dates in June have already sold out! You can book yours here.
Looking for a Book Club? Thanet Book Club holds theirs at Sonder on the last Tuesday of every month. You have until Tue 26 May to read their latest book, What Am I, A Deer? By Polly Barton. The Old Curiosity Shop has also announced two books for this month – Chocolat by Joanne Harris and / or The Death of Us by Abigail Dean. They’re meeting to discuss them both on Tue 2 June.
