And if you missed it… last week’s newsletter still has lots of things happening that you might want to know about.

Occasionally, a workshop will pop up that sounds so intriguing and life-enhancing, you book a place before even checking your schedule. This series is that.

(You had me at Seance.)

Book in now for this four-part writing and creative practice programme led by multidisciplinary artist and ‘ritual’ composer RIEKO, who will explore different ways to access your creativity.

Just stay with me a minute.

This is play. (RIEKO has called her art a ‘daily act of devotion and play’).

This is a space to experiment and to create - not to produce perfection.

This is self-examination. Reaching into your chest, exploring your internal world, the place from which you create, the place where your inspiration lives; that jewel at your core which fires when you’re in flow.

This programme is your chance to dig deeper into your creative practice (whatever that may be) and challenge yourself with new starting points - or a different medium entirely.

Each week will start somewhere new.

Explore your intuition, memory and self-expression through movement, writing, drawing and improvised performance.

The series will build to an optional public presentation in December.

Sounds intense? Well - so is your art hun. So, let’s get into it.

Don’t stress - it’s just for fun.

(Also, don’t miss out)

Whether you’re needing a chilled Bank Holiday today after the weekend activities, or you want to make the most of the extra day off, there’s plenty going on for all below. I had a busy one, nipping over to see Fatboy Slim in Margate on Friday night and enjoying the Bank Holiday festivities in town, so I’ll be making the most of some down time before schools start up later this week. I might even go and check out the brand new Wagamama opening today (more on that below!)

As we look towards September there’s lots to look forward to, from Autumnal food offerings popping up, to cosy pub events and workshops galore.

But, if you’re like me, you’ll be clinging on to summer for just a little while longer. Don’t miss out - Kim xx

And if you missed it… last week’s newsletter still has lots of things happening that you might want to know about.

From new rides to extended opening days, Dreamland has something for everyone this August.

I end every summer with tokens scattered around the house from friend and family visits (and every summer think I should get a season pass!), so I’ll be gathering them up for one last jaunt on the rides (til October) - just me and my wife. A Dreamland date day is something we do every year. And now we’ve got til 2 Sept to do it.

Don’t miss out - Georgina x

The summer holidays are nearly done but not yet!

Our favourite amusement park has added extra opening dates and has some incredible wristband prices to make it even more affordable to enjoy all the fun of the fair before school starts again.

Don’t miss these five reasons to get down there now.

1.Dreamland Margate is open every day until 2 Sept

The park is open daily including every day of the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Extra dates have just been added on Tue 1 and Wed 2 Sept, so you get two bonus days after the bank holiday rush dies down.

After 2 September the park goes back to weekend only opening. Dreamland’s opening times are 10.30am - 6pm, rides open from 11am.

2. Ride wristbands are 15% off for two more weeks

Wristband prices are frozen at 15% off until 2 September.

Tiny Tots Wristbands are £10.99. They cover the smaller rides including Little River, Cups and Saucers, Ladybirds, Margate Express, Helter Skelter, Noah’s Ark, Magic Rockets, Austin Cars and the Caterpillar Coaster. Ideal for children between 0.8m and 1.2m.

Mega Ride Wristbands are £20.99 and give unlimited access to every ride all day. For anyone over 1.2m.

Prefer to pay as you go?

Standard ride tokens are £3 each, or 20 for £40. One token per ride. Buy them at the booths on site. T&Cs apply.

3. There’s a brand new Bavarian Funhouse

New for this summer- and until Sept only - the Bavarian Funhouse has three levels of wobbly floors, water jets, crazy steps and rolling barrels.

It’s one token per rider, and it’s included in the Mega Wristband. Minimum height is 1m if accompanied, or 1.2m to go in alone.

See all the rides here

4. Big names are still to come on the Scenic Stage

The outdoor season goes out on a high. If you haven’t been to a Dreamland gig yet this summer, there are some corkers coming up this month. Don’t miss…

Fri 21 Aug: Nile Rodgers and CHIC, with The Brand New Heavies and James Emmanuel.
Sat 22 Aug: Bastille, with Orla Gartland and Only The Poets.
Sun 30 Aug: Babyshambles, with Big Special, Warmduscher, GANS and PreGoblin.

Amusement park opening times can change on event days, so check the website before you travel.

Book Here

5. And if you really can’t make it, don’t panic…October half term is already sorted

If you can’t make it this month, the park opens every day of October half term from Sat 24 to Sat 31 Oct. Perfect for entertaining little ones when has weather turned.

And if you missed it… last week’s newsletter still has lots of things happening that you might want to know about.

Bongo’s Bingo Is Back in Thanet (And This Time There’s Two More Dates)

Bongo’s Bingo is already sold out for its first date in Margate.

But good news for us - after selling out their first date at The Drill Shed, on 2 Oct, the world’s original bingo rave is back for more - with two more unmissable shows this autumn, and this is why you need to be there.

Honestly it’s worth going to Margate for.

Don’t Miss Bongo’s Bingo For These 3 Reasons

🎃 There’s a Halloween spectacular AND a second date

Put Fri 30 Oct in the diary now as it brings a marrow curdling Halloween special of Bongo’s Bingo followed by another one on Fri 13 Nov.

Book Here

🕺 It’s not really about the bingo

Bongo’s Bingo is not your nan’s bingo experience. No eyes down and radio silence here.

Get ready for confetti cannons, dance offs, mass karaoke to Mr Brightside and props so random you’ll be talking about them for weeks (a 20 foot Wacky Wavy, anyone?).

This is mad, chaotic, loud, drag bingo and already 6 million people have taken part across the world. And now it’s in Thanet.

🏖️ Thanet loves to party, and Bongo’s knows it

Founder Jonny Bongo is excited…

“We’re all absolutely buzzing to be back in Margate. We know how much the locals love to party so we are bringing maximum bingo vibes for everyone on the coast and it’s going to be absolutely class. We can’t wait.”

🦄 Giant pink unicorns? Check.

🧹 Henry Hoovers? Of course.

🦘 Space Hoppers? Well - why not.

🎊 And you and your mates? Don’t miss out.

Folk Week has well and truly taken over the town. I popped in to see Two Man Ting at Sonder yesterday afternoon, and Jed had the Pavilion absolutely heaving at his gig outside last night. This is Broadstairs at its absolute best, so make sure you pop in over the next few days if you’ve not managed to already.

How lucky are we to be surrounded by this much music?

There’s so many gigs on all day and all night up until Friday. There’s also plenty of children’s entertainment, crafting activities, and make sure you also take advantage of all the food specials going on over Folk Week around town. More on all of that and more below 👇

And if you missed it… last week’s newsletter still has lots of things happening that you might want to know about.

I’m praying the fireworks go ahead this week after last week’s last minute cancellation. There’s also the Broadstairs Water Gala, several free theatre shows, storytime and author talks, wine tastings, sip and paint nights and plenty of live music.

But what I’m most excited for is the beach cinema screenings at Dumpton Gap this Friday. For more on all of that, read on below.

There seems to be a lot of movement around town at the moment. This week we’re sadly saying goodbye to one of my favourite shops, but welcoming a new foodie outlet.

I’ll be updating you on this and more every single week. Thanks for following along. Don’t miss out - Kim xx
